The client owned two adjoining substandard lots in Mill Valley, and wanted to build two residences, one for each of her two young adult children.
The goal was to design a structure with a zero setback on one side of each lot. This would allow for the two houses to have a common wall and expand each house's width to twenty two feet, making for a more suitable arrangement of spaces.
With the zero setback lot line the structure (two houses) would be in keeping with the massing and size of the surrounding new houses which were on much larger lots. |
