This San Francisco Marina site became available after a previous structure collapsed in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
The challenge was to design a contemporary two-unit home with ample light and views in an area of San Francisco that tends to be built lot-line-to-lot-line. The design had to be strong enough to merit approval from the owners, their neighbors, and the San Francisco Planning Department.
The architectural design successfully withstood rigorous exterior design scrutiny and was approved for construction in a record amount of time. At the same time, the design provided compelling interior spaces and big views in an area of San Francisco known for its beautiful bay scenery. |
