The architecture of this home is both a return to the past and a participant in current gracious design trends.
This 1920's centrally-organized classic house, built on a portion of three merged city lots, had been significantly altered, then abandoned and allowed to fall into ruin by previous owners. The new owners decided to revive the traditional layout of the house and add contemporary comforts and uses. The new design reinstates traditional formal public spaces and integrates these with new private spaces and finish selections.
The owners specified that sustainably harvested and ecologically responsible building materials and assemblies be used wherever possible. The owners' concerns extended to their selection of drought-tolerant and native plant materials for the magnificent terraces and gardens. |
