The new Music Building is a recent addition to De La Salle High School. It was clad with earth-toned masonry units chosen to enrich the palette of existing campus materials. The building was sited next to an existing theater. The main practice space opens onto adjoining athletic fields for ease of band practice outside and to acoustically separate musical activity from the rest of the campus.
The defining feature of the Music Building is its unique geometric form, marked by a subtle curve of the eastern façade sculpted to meet the curved metallic roof. The building geometry was designed to acoustically enhance the large practice space, which is sound-baffled and flanked by smaller sound-proof practice rooms and offices.
